Lillith, a young Velorian living far beyond the reach of other humans, is the Protector of the planet Tetra. This planet, populated solely by small furry spider-like creatures, is hardly a place for a young Velorian woman to spend her young life. Yet she is the Protector of this planet, her mission very clear, her genetically-mandated duty coming before all other considerations. Yet in such a setting, alone except for the furry and lovable creatures she protects, she cannot help but have her own secret thoughts, fantasies of another place, dreams perhaps of meeting someone of her own race, of enjoying the company of someone even remotely human. Dreams of loving, and being loved by, her mate.
Easily as beautiful and strong as her older sister Kara, the SuperFemme of Earth, Lillith is just past her mid-teens as this book begins. She has been on Tetra for some time already, and has begun to feel the impatience and yearnings that women of her age are prone to feel. Especially as she begins to respond to the feelings for which Velorians are famous. Or infamous as the case may be.
